Integrated Ecological Modeling: Mediated Modeling and Model Development Workshops

Drs. Michael E. Kjelland, S. Kyle McKay, and Todd M. Swannack
3 October 2017

  • Bio Drs. Michael E. Kjelland, S. Kyle McKay, and Todd M. Swannack

Ecological modeling capability is a growing need across business lines in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Every project conducted for USACE can impact the environment within the project footprint and beyond. Forecasting these benefits and/or impacts requires modeling ecological outcomes for futures with and without a proposed project action, including ecosystem restoration, navigation, and flood risk management. This webinar will illuminate basic ecological modeling capabilities within USACE District offices, while simultaneously demonstrating cutting-edge ERDC modeling capacity on several areas of interest.

This presentation provides an overview of integrated ecological modeling concepts that have been applied successfully through hands-on workshops for several USACE environmental and operations projects. The results of these integrated modeling workshops can be used to provide solutions to complex, multi-scale problems common among all USACE business lines.
