The USACE is charged with the protection, preservation, and restoration of ecological
resources at Civil Works projects. Since the early 2000's, the exotic, invasive Emerald
Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire; EAB) has killed millions of ash trees in the
United States and consequently on USACE managed land. This presentation shares the
EAB problem for USACE, first-hand experience from Raystown Lake, a threat assessment
ahead of the infestation, and a method of estimating EAB cost to USACE.
